Riveting proposal on A Street: Developer would add three floors to old factory for new office building

Architect's rendering of proposed 69 A St. building

Archtect's rendering (no, those are not vultures).

A developer has filed a proposal with the BRA to add three floors to the old Standard Rivet Co. building at 69 A St. and build a new six-story extension to create room for five floors of office space and a fitness club and retail space at the ground level.

Florida-based 69 ASTMA says the project would give the rapidly growing residential area a much needed source of local jobs - and fitness - in "a vibrant live/work/play environment."

The proposal calls for an 18-space garage.

So hot right now

...one of the hotter sections of SoBo!!

I do wish places like My Diner and Williams Tavern would stick around. It's nice to enjoy a meal or drink without:

A) 10 TVs playing sports
B) 23 year-old bros that live in Dorchester (who got priced out of SoBo) hanging out so they can tell there other friends they partied in SoBo last night.
C) A place packed wall to wall.

I miss the old SoBo days...

Croke Park and whatever that place is attached to Al's that seems to be open only a couple days per month.

...and Tom's English Cottage is another place to relax and have a drink without the "trendy scene".

No self respecting resident calls it SoBo.

You mean they cashed out, they didn't get priced out.

Widdet Circle? Yeah, its going to happen sans Olympics. Just slower and not being handed over by eminent domain.

Gillette, Anderew Square, and the Industrial Zone between the convention center and 1st street are next.

Then you have the village that's being put in over in bay center.

Southie is going to look very, very different 20 years from now.

I know they are owned by P&G, but since you are using the local fixers as your attorneys, could you at least say view towards Gillette in the PNF instead of P&G? That's what we locals say.

Before we lament the loss of jobs in the area, Standard Rivet moved to Waltham to much needed bigger space a few years ago and to cash in on its site here.

How long does the Amherein's parking lot last in this boom? I am always find it bewildering that someone hasn't figured out how to build here and maintain the parking. Same thing with the Lesley owned lot next to the former White Hen Pantry at Porter. How do you let all that space so close to transit get used for cars only?

Here is an example of how to include a nice looking link in a post.

  1. Copy the link into your clipboard. In the example above it's https://www.google.com/maps/@42.3747124,-71.0637844,3a,75y,43.28h,78.65t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sB7PeEzprb0UTPWPzHuYiuw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1
    (Jeez, that's a mouthful!)
  2. Hit "reply' or "add new comment" on the UHub page.
  3. Type your reply and then select the word (or words) you'd like to be the link - in the example above it's the word 'link'.
  4. Click on the first little icon - IMAGE(http://www.universalhub.com/sites/all/modules/bueditor/icons/link.png) - just above the reply entry field. (It looks like a globe with two chain links in front.)
  5. A menu pops up. Paste your copied link into the first text entry slip - the one labeled 'link href'.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Make sure Text format is set to 'Filtered HTML' and click the "Preview' button. (Skip this step if you're a baller).
  8. Make sure everything looks cool and hit 'Save'.
  9. Profit!

Seriously, it looks complicated when I lay it all out in little steps like that, but once you try it, you'll see how simple it is - and it makes your posts look classy!

Perfect. Thank you!

On a similar vein, but way off topic.. Adam , can we have a 'help section' for your site? It would be nice to be able to post some of this stuff, and other nuances about your site there so people can refer to them. (maybe www.universalhub.com/help as the node name? ;) )
