Three charged with shooting a man to death on Dorchester Avenue in October

Boston Police report arresting three men on murder charges for the shooting death of Shawn Borden, 41, shortly before 6 p.m. on Oct. 11 on Dorchester Avenue at Dix Street.

Borden is survived by his mother, Barbara, a civilian employee of the Boston Police Department.

Police say Borden was working on his car when somebody fired 15 rounds at him.

Charged with his murder are Tyshawn Cummings, 21, Tyshawn Sanders, 18, and Jamari Manning, 21, all of Dorchester. They were arrested today by gang and fugitive-unit officers and are scheduled for arraignment Monday in Dorchester Municipal Court.

All three were already known to police.

On Dec. 19, 2015, police arrested Cummings on gun charges after police spotted him coming out of a Norfolk Street house with what appeared to be a gun in his waistband.

His arraignment on the charges was delayed after he was arrested in court for allegedly beating up another man in lockup with him.

Earlier, he had been acquitted of charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for a 2013 incident.

On April 19, police arrested Sanders after he allegedly crashed a car on I-93 while being pursued by officers investigating gunfire in the area of Fernboro Street. A 17-year-old in the car with him at the time was charged with illegal possession of a loaded handgun.

On Dec. 1 of this year, Manning was arrested on marijuana distribution charges on Gallivan Boulevard.

Innocent, etc.

I was at this father's funeral. I don't or didn't know Mr. Borden. I have and spoke to one of his sons , the second to the youngest. I briefly enacted with him many times after he was dismissed from his middle school.

His had a smile that lite up the area. You could do anything else, accept to smile back. His smile made me happy when I was not feeling my best. He one of those people, when he smiled the world smile back. His son was always respectful and a gentlemen to me. He was willing to listen to advice, redirections and wisdom. Is he, you or I perfect, no? I know him mostly as well manner young boy.

This son, in my eyes; officially became a man when he eulogies his father. He spoke of love, peace, and unity, not of war and hatred. He acknowledged the imperfections, which we all have, but most of all he spoke of the greatness of his fatherand good times. From what I heard his was a hero at in end, protecting his child(ren) at his end. And even if this not true, To his sons and others, he still a hero to them.

To the courts and justice system, you have been found guilty again. Dereliction and not protecting the public.

This is a situation we see far too often, and it is a complete disgrace. This scumbag Cummings has MULTIPLE gun offenses, yes he is free to terrorize and kill Bostonians less than one year from a previous charge. When will the couts do their job? The great members of the BPD can only do so much. This kid is a menace to society.

While Healy is coming down on legal firearm owners, and dealers - known criminal illegal gun offenders are released with a slap on the wrist.

this is the real problem/threat facing our residents!

Instead of hating the cops, the people need to turn their anger toward the courts and our lawmakers. There should be MANDATORY minimum sentences for illegal gun offenders.

I feel so bad for the family of this man who was brutally killed. These scumbage should not have even been walking the streets.

This was my friend Shawn. Always nice, pleasant, joyful, smiling and respectful. I adored my friend. Hated to hear that he lost his life like this, unfortunately society does not stop the cycle of these young people. This young man is 21 years old and is a hard line criminal sad.

His life was over from the moment he began his criminal activities, killing was just the unfortunate conclusion of something that had already begin.
