Second guy was a flagman to alert incoming trains there was a person working next to the tracks. There were about a dozen people painting in various parts of the station this morning, but fear not this was the only worker with a secondary person.
The fresh coat of paint keeps the peeling lead paint sealed. The air quality is likely better with drying latex than it normally is in the stations and tunnels with all the heavy metal dust floating around in a confined space.
Now maybe they can send a crew to figure out why there are puddles on the stairs on the inbound side at Copley every day, whether or not there's been any precipitation. It sure as hell can't be from mopping.

Q:
How many T workers does it take to paint a pole?
LOL - Was thinking the same

good one.
A coat of fresh paint will spruce up the place.
Did you ever consider that
Did you ever consider that maybe the second person is necessary to help carry supplies?
Or maybe to help keep an eye on things so that the guy painting doesn't accidentally hit someone walking by with the pole?
Or maybe they had a list of maintenance tasks that shift, several of which required two people.
Or maybe the T requires maintenance crews of 2 people just in case something happens to 1? (Slips and falls, back injury, etc)
This is not just the T wasting tax dollars.
Safety guy

Unfair Jibe
Enough with the wise ass remarks about a couple of working guys trying to make a living.
Fume-less paint?
No breathers on the workers, no fans to keep the air moving or off-gas the paint faster...
I'll just be avoiding Hynes for a few days, thanks.

the moving trains
act as the fan by pushing air through the station.
Great!...
Now the station will be a much nicer place to wait for trains that will never arrive.
Cool!

Um
Take a whiff of those puddles some day.
No, they do that behind the ornamental wrought-iron shelter...
...on the street level, at least when the library is closed.
