The T ran fine in the snow; it's today the trains won't go
By adamg on Fri, 02/10/2017 - 9:54am
The T says service was pretty durn good on the four subway lines thanks to all the investments in things like new third rails and plows and dispatch centers.
So far this morning, the T has reported Red Line problems that include dead trains at South Station and near Ashmont, signal and switch problems on the Braintree branch and at Park Street. Green Line trolleys ran even slower than usual on the C line.
But as of 9:50 a.m., the T says everything's back to normal.

Line down
I took the Needham line at around 8:00. It arrived on time, but then we moved slowly after Forest Hills. They announced that a line was down somewhere between FH and South Station and thus all trains had to share "Track 3", resulting in a slower ride than usual. Slower, but not terrible.
Same here
Came in on a northbound train as well. Delay @ Forest Hills maybe 20-30min, but i was on a warm train, so no complaints from me today.
In addition to the switch problem
at Park Street, they had a disabled C train eastbound that had to be pushed around the loop at Government Center, then through Park Street and into the dead track between Park and Boylston. Because of this, they were short turning D Riverside trains at Park Street as well.
Apart from the 'moderate' delays on the C line, no alerts were sent out for any of the above.
As an aside, it's been my observation in 35+ years of riding the T daily that, while the day of a storm is normally good, the day after a storm usually has problems.
So the only time the T doesn
So the only time the T doesn't work is when people use it. Gotcha.
Can someone confirm?
I don't take what the T says about itself as fact. Seems clear to me at least that all delays will be referred to as minor delays regardless.
To anyone that used the T on Thurs during rush hour, how good was it?
As for this...
Were things in fact back to normal after rush hour? My sneaking suspicion is that the T is making up numbers off-rush hour to bring the average down since it's the average that they publically report for stats.
Attention ladies and
Attention ladies and gentleman please wait while we install one of the "ready-to-wear" engines.
By Jove, we've solved the problem!
All that needs to happen now, is for it to snow every day! :)
