Authorities hunt late-model Chrysler 300 with major front-end damage from driver slamming into a pedestrian in Mattapan

Wanted car for Dorchester crash

Investigators are looking for the driver of a dark blue or black Chrysler 300 that they've identified as the one that slammed into Pierre Desir on Morton Street early Saturday and then just kept driving early on May 26.

The car, which may have been brought in for repairs since then, likely has major front-end damage, possibly including windshield cracks, from where it hit and killed Desir, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office:

Auto body shops that may have worked on such a vehicle since May 26 are asked to contact investigators, as is anyone familiar with such a vehicle that was damaged or has been missing since last week. ...

Video footage from a camera at the intersection of Gallivan Boulevard and Dorchester Avenue shows the vehicle next to a larger SUV travelling westbound on Gallivan Boulevard, travelling from right to left and passing directly in front of the camera.

Anyone who knows anything can contact State Police detectives at 617-727-8817.

Does the vehicle have standard plates or livery plates?

Not to sound curt, but don't you think if they could make out "livery" in the photo, they'd already have determined the (much larger lettered) full plate?

if they could even get a partial plate read they would have found them already.

What’s the point of having surveillance cameras if the photos aren’t released to public in a timely fashion and investigators can’t extract necessary information (e.g license plate numbers)? The public would like to help, but you’ve got to give us something to work with for goodness sake.

How did they ID this car on Gallivan Blvd., if the pedestrian was struck on Morton Street?

Was this picture taken before or after the hit and run?
