BPS set to hire head of education non-profit as interim superintendent

The Globe reports the School Committee is expected to give the temporary position to Laura Perille, CEO of Edvestors - and somebody whose kids went to Boston public schools. She'll be filling in for Tommy Chang, who announced his departure last week.

Unless I'm missing something her bio does not have any school experience. BPS realizes the mistakes of bringing in an outsider and you turn around and bring in someone with even less experience in education?

Boston used to be known as the best urban district in the country and now we're hiring a superintendent who has never even seen what the MCAS test looks like.

Is Tommy still in town? Anybody got his number?

Just in case you missed it in the original post, she's not being hired to turn the system around, just keep things running until a new superintendent is hired.

It's obvious this is an interim superintendent, but the Globe article from two days ago shows the mountain of work in front of BPS right now. Seeing that the last Interim was in place for two years, it scares me to think that this one could be the same.

So are we going to have a two-year bench warmer while these items sit idle? Or should we tackle school closures?

Oh this is going to be good. BPS is on life support and she has no CPR card.

A smart choice from our idiot Mayah.

I have watched Laura work for years. She is a perfect pick. If I were a BPS administrator or principal who has been mailing it in, I'd be worried. She's that good. And she is very tough on people who don't do what's right for kids.
