West Roxbury to get pita-sandwich place with fresh-made pita

Bonapita moving into a location on Spring Street in West Roxbury

Bonapita, a Downtown Crossing place that features Mediterranean pita sandwiches served fast, has begun outfitting the old Burger Fi place on Spring Street for its second outlet.

The former Burger Fi at 77 Spring St. is also a former diet-burger place and a former Finagle-a-Bagel.

I've never seen a place come and go quicker than Burger Fi. At least they served beer. I don't really get the appeal of Shake Shack and the like because the shakes are $5+, yet the size of those Dixie cups with Disney characters on them that children use to rinse their mouth out in the bathroom. Besides, skillet burgers are just meh compared to burgers from an outdoor grill.

A five dollar milkshake? They don't put bourbon in it or nothing?

Westie should feel very lucky. I go to their Downtown Crossing location, and everything is fresh, flavorful and delicious. I am a flexatarian and take my liberties with eating meat at Bonapita. I can’t pass up their meatballs.

Have you tried B-Good's eggplant meatballs? If not - you should:)

I hope the best for this new restaurant, but that plaza seems to spell doom for food establishments. Perhaps if the folks who manage the plaza got beyond the "everyone's gonna drive here" mentality of 1957, and provided ways to approach by foot that don't involve walking in car traffic or climbing through mulch, it might be better. But until then, I remain skeptical.

There's not much foot traffic in the area. If anything, the rest of the tenants in the plaza provide some traffic in that one might want to eat before or after visiting them. A good food place will get people to show up. And if you don't believe me, visit either the Five Guys, Panda Express, or Chipotle in Dedham.

anything is better than open storefronts

this place looks tasty, will definitely try them out for lunch (that whole stretch between stop and shop and the VA has a real shortage of places to eat)

I love Bonapita! I went there often when I worked Downtown. The Chicken a la Plancha on a salad is great! We need more Bonapitas! Come to Harvard Square...

Greeks who know their business, try the Greek International Food Market on Washington Street in West Roxbury.

They have great take out. The food is delicious, varied and affordable.

Now back to our friends at Bonapita:

Strike 1: Aside from the high prices for basically cheap food (your sandwich mostly consists of pita, beans, lentils, greens), I had to flip through their website pages to find how to order as well as playing make pretend ordering to find out their prices. Everything should be on their website's homepage and easily accessible.

Strike 2: Ever try to eat an overstuffed pita pocket? Not fun and bring a bib

Strike 3: Phantom Gourmet.
