The Dorchester Reporter alerts us: Goats are returning to Dorchester Park tomorrow to help in the fight against poison ivy and other weeds - by eating them.
But is this the best way to weed and remove brush from an urban space.
I pay good tax dollars for those mowers and weed whackers.
The goats love it I'm sure.
For people who might not know this, rest assured that this is a brilliant move. Goats LOVE poison ivy. It is the first thing they will eat, and they will eat all of it before they eat anything else. They will dig at the roots until they get every last bit of it out of there. Goats are far more effective than weedwhackers or bushwhackers or heinous carcinogenic chemicals. Whoever made the decision to bring the goats in should be commended for their wisdom. GREAT use of taxpayer dollars! Very cutting edge thinking.
