Seriously, if you put something nice out like a carousel and then it gets destroyed, why bother. People don't deserve nice things if they can't take care of them and be respectful of their surroundings

Au contraire, Boston does have nice things: our public parks. Shout out to the countless volunteers who keep the Boston Common and Public Garden in good shape!

And that's the fault of the volunteers how? Try helping out instead of whining online.

Can you tell us about your volunteer experience?

We know your Boston volunteer experience is incredibly limited.

Can you tell us more about that big important school where you picked up all those big important words you use to try to pep up your droll, flat as Kansas comments?

The Frog Pond, including the carousel, is operated through a public-private partnership between the City and The Skating Club of "Boston" (which recently decamped to Norwood). Operating the outdoor ice rink is a cash cow for the Skating Club, but the skating season has been cancelled due to coronahysteria and Skating Club management couldn't care less about what happens with the property if it's not generating cash flow.

Seems like November so far has been much too warm for an outdoor ice rink.

So you are volunteering on medical wards?

Or are you just an idiot waiting your turn to spread disease, mayhem, and possibly die?

The only hysteria I see is idiots in full denial throwing tantrums over bits of cloth and reasonable restrictions.

... is there any evidence-based reason not to operate an outdoor ice rink, once the weather gets cold enough? People will want to wear masks anyway to stay warm.

Given how crowded the Frog Pond typically gets, I would not want to skate on it with its normal capacity. And then you'd also have to figure out how to get people to only show up at their designated time, rather than waiting in a huge crowd around the rink.

And I also wouldn't trust other people not to skate into me, even if we were the only two people on the ice.

So is it the SCOB's fault that vandals exist??

p.s. It's good that the SCOB moved. The old rink in Brighton just wasn't up to snuff and certainly not good enough to try to turn out world-class skaters. Maybe now with a world-class training facility they'll get some singles skaters who can make it to the World championships.

Regardless of who owns or operates the carousel, the complaint here is about vandalism. Your comment appears to infer that the operator is showing a sense of negligence here due to lack of financial incentive to do otherwise rather than blaming the lowlifes who do this crap in the first place.

First cameras, then consequences.

Are they made from platinum?

-Carousel spins wildly out of control, demonstrates centrifugal horse
-Horse-"No more Jaeger bombs for this pony".
-Carousing carousel pony crashes on concrete
-Carny hitmen take out Joey-the-Horse
Sorry, that's all I got, seems like there should be comedy gold here tho.

UPDATE: Thanks SW! Nailed it! I felt its presence but couldn't connect. I commend you, sir.
