While on scene, officers were also dispatched to Green Street and Pleasant Street for the same suspect attempting to steal another motor vehicle. A short time later the suspect was located at his residence.

Police say Jerry Vastey, 19, of Putnam Gardens, about a half mile from the crash site, was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a person-injury crash, leaving the scene of a property-damage crash, attempting to commit a crime and driving with a suspended license. He was also wanted out of Boston on charges that include receiving stolen property, police say.
