After all that, council does approve a redistricting map

The Dorchester Reporter sums up the changes approved 9-4 by the council today, after the council voted 9-4 against delaying further action and 9-4 against a rival plan.

Yes, Baker, Murphy, Flaherty and Flynn were in the minority on all four votes.

The plan, which uses data from the 2020 census, now goes to Mayor Wu for her consideration.

Redistricting committee's Oct. 31 report, which has a map of the new districts on the last page (note: It's a 13.2M PDF and there might have been a couple of precinct changes between then and today).

Thanks for posting the link to the upcoming district map. Comparing it to the current one (link below) shows some amount of shifting in the eastern part of the city.

Worth noting, with D3 Baker losing a chunk of his most reliable voter base, D4 Worrell will now have to court the voters of some of the most conservative and white city precincts of Cedar Grove and Lower Mills. These folks also turn out to vote in great numbers (as anyone who cares should do). Next year's city election will provide some interesting campaigning in Dorchester.

I live in D3, I can see D4 from my window and it looks like my block is going to remain that way for another decade. While I shall remain in the most holy catholic district of the anointed Frank Baker, I am also downstream from some occasionally overflowing D4 sewage pipes. D4 people should refrain from the capital sin of envy; life in D3 holy land is not always as blessed as it looks.
