
MassDOT reports a truck driver slammed into the inbound side of the Auburn Street overpass on the turnpike in Newton, which is now closed pending an inspection. The right lane is also shut.

And it is on an interstate in Massachusetts, the grandfathered clearance is at least 13'6".

Anything newly built or overhauled has to be at least 16', with an extra 1.5' for pedestrian overpasses.

I think we had one of these before -- it's the rack that the dumpster or whatever sits on, and which drivers occasionally forget to lower before driving off -- but I don't recall if the previous one actually broke off of the truck?
