Best. Duck. Ever.
Wood ducks are excellent. Just not sure, how much wood would a Wood Duck chuck...etc.?
No pictures of them gliding
No pictures of them gliding along submerged?
Has the pond secured from
Has the pond secured from DEFCON 4?
Love those ducks
I saw that same duck flotilla just the other day. I'm so happy there are more ducklings than last year when there was just the mom and four ducklings on Ward's pond.
As best I can tell, there's none on Ward's this year, so I'm curious as to what led them to try out the new digs.
They've been on Jamaica Pond before
So familiarity breeds more wood ducks?
Ducklings, goslings, cygnets
Yesterday evening on the Charles between Brighton and Watertown I saw a Mallard mother with a train of ducklings so small that you could fit one in a teacup, a lined-up gaggle of goslings with an adult goose at either end, and a mixed group of swans and cygnets, the cygnets almost as large as the adults, mostly distinguishable by their still-black beaks and slightly greyish color. Earlier, driving over, I passed a troop of preschoolers from one of the daycares in my neighborhood, with a carer at each end. They fit right in. They mostly resembled the goslings, clumsy-cute, rather than adorable like the ducklings, or precociously independent like the cygnets. The goslings were more graceful, but then they were on the water, and didn't have to do any waddling. The preschoolers were definitely waddling.
