One of the two men stabbed in Central Square Sunday night had been stabbed earlier that day as well, police say

Cambridge Police report a fight between two small groups of men in the area of McElroy Park Sunday night ended with two men stabbed - one while trying to keep the other from being sliced up.

Police say they are continuing to look for the two to three men who were in the group that did the stabbing, last spotted running towards River Street.

Both victims remain in the hospital, one in stable condition, the other still in critical condition, police say.

Police say the man in critical condition was already nursing a stab wound when he got stabbed again:

One of the two victims (the one who remains in critical condition) had previously been discharged from a hospital late Sunday morning after he arrived at the emergency entrance of a Cambridge hospital with stab wounds. CPD responded to the hospital Sunday, July 10 around 4:40 a.m. While he did not cooperate nor provide a statement to officers with the Cambridge Police at the hospital, officers were able to later locate evidence in Central Square of a stabbing following an apparent fight prior to 4 a.m. near the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Pleasant Street. The victim was released following treatment.
