Postal Service says it can't open the Codman Square post office because the front door is busted

Angry note on door of Codman Square post office demanding to know why it's shut again

The Codman Square post office (02124) was closed yesterday and, as Welcome to Dot shows us, it's closed again today and people who just want to pick up their mail or send a letter are getting annoyed.

A Postal Service spokesperson says:

Due to a damaged entryway door, we are unable to access the facility. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible and apologize to our valued customers for any inconvenience incurred.

There is no firm timeframe, but it will be as soon as possible.

However, some customers say the Codman Square branch has been closing off and on for several months now.

USPS sometimes needs gentle slaps from the ground up to get right. NOT top-down Louis Dejoy fascist psychopath takeover treatment. But good ol' public getting annoyed with bullshit holding USPS accountable and doing something about it treatment.

Is now processedand delivered out of the GMF General Mail Facility at Fort Point Channel Dochester Ave and Summer St. next to South Station.

Mail for Codman Sq area Dorchester is also processed at the GMF, then delivered early AM to the Codman P.O. and boxes where carriers pick it up.

In the teens the JP post office was a disaster. Lynch's office received more complaints about this post office than any other issue. Mail was frequently delivered to the wrong street if delivered at all. Change of address cards were lost. Maybe whatever curse hovered over the JP post office has moved on.

Also no locksmiths anywhere to be found.

The locksmith and the manager are in a dispute about outstanding charges.

Too bad there's only one locksmith in town. If there were a second locksmith, the Post Office manager could hire them to fix the door, while resolving the dispute with the first locksmith.

As if the Postal Service doesn't have a locksmith of their own?
