Developer proposes replacing three small apartment buildings in Brighton Center with one 42-unit building

DND Homes of Burlington has filed plans to replace three "dated" buildings with a total of between 12 and 18 apartments on Dighton Street, off Chestnut Hill Avenue in Brighton Center, with a four-story, 42-unit apartment building with 34 parking spaces in a garage.

In a filing with the BPDA, DND describes the $12.6-million project:

The Proponent’s goal when conceptualizing this project was to revitalize this section of Dighton Street by replacing the existing outdated residential buildings with a new residential building, as well as replace the extensive black top with greenery and landscaping. This development project will add new housing units and will replace the paved exterior space with new usable green space and landscaping. This project will add new residential housing opportunities to the popular Brighton community and allow for new residents to move into the neighborhood.

It lists the number of "affordable" units as "to be determined."

In addition to landscaping, DND says it will put in a Bluebikes station.

DND says it hopes to begin roughly 16 months of construction in April, 2024.

The developer paid $6 million for 25, 29 and 37 Dighton St. in 2020, according to Suffolk County Registry of Deeds records.
