Do they make train whistles only dogs can hear?

Dogs in the Charles River as a train passes by at Millennium Park

A couple of dogs jumped into the Charles River at Millennium Park this afternoon just as an inbound Needham Line train was coming through.

I do know that the nonstop DING DING DING DING DINGDINGDING on the Orange Line is going to make someone go berserk real hard and heavy any day.

I have paddled my kayak under that bridge a hundred times and never seen one. Now I'm going to have a dilemma every time I pass under it; do I continue, or lay in wait? Going under it while a train is going over it would be kind of cool.

From personal experience, a fair bit of schmutz rains down on you when a train goes overhead. Little bits of rust from the tracks, dirt knocked loose from the vibrations, etc. Size ranges from powder to cornflakes.

Though it should probably be a special kayaking-under-trains hat. I'm sure they carry them at REI.

I'm sure a pith helmet would do. The problem with wearing a pith helmet is that wearing one, it's hard to make progress down the street with all the attractive people stopping to ask you out on dates.

Trains go by on that bit of track about every 15 minutes during daylight hours, weekends as well as weekdays. Millennium park has been one of our go-to places to take a walk for nearly 20 years now and i doubt theres been more than a handful of times a train*hasn’t* passed by while we’re there.
