Italian Air Force flyover Monday afternoon

The Italian Air Force Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team is scheduled to fly over Boston this afternoon.

I've seen different times: air.show says 3:15 to 3:30, while Reddit's u/MrMcSwifty says between 3 and 4:30.

The team will also do several runs over Newport, RI, around 11:30am.

The formation will include nine aircraft; for their performances the team adds a tenth soloist, making them the largest aerobatic team in the world.

This should be fun

Is there any point to these things other than to make ear spitting noise, pollute the air, risk crashes, scare people and show off military power?

...and they are very impressive.

Forget all those jokes about the new Italian navy having glass-bottomed boats so they can see the old Italian navy (besides, this is the air force).

I’m no rah-rah pro-military fan boy, and I don’t think densely populated cities are suitable venues for air shows, but on the other hand, a flyover is not a full-on airshow, and i do think they look cool. I think of them as “showing off technological prowess” rather than “showing off military might. Your mileage may, of course, vary.

Yeah just for some fun?! Also, what's with all these hot-air balloon shows? Nothing but risk of disaster and mayhem. And don't get me started on car racing. Huge amounts of pollution so people can watch cars go fast and maybe crash and burn everyone? Insane. And swimming events! You're telling me people voluntarily get in the water and try not to drown as fast as they can?

Point being my inner child's delight can piss off, this is dangerous and promotes nothing but the rampant militarism of the Italians. Free Gaul!

Planes have only EXISTED for 121 years...and you want to know why people might want to fly them around in showy ways still?

Thrilling to watch!

I think it's about the ongoing North End restaurant territorial disputes. The mayor should launch a flight of aggressive turkeys as a deterrent.

By luck I will be near downtown around 3 but I can't seem to find any live update online about if (weather), where and when this is happening. Does anyone know?

Delayed out of PVD, circled over Canton a few times before swinging out over Hingham and heading north to Portsmouth without overflying Boston.
