Denise Jillson, executive director of the Harvard Square Business Association reports that when she tried to run a Longfellow House credit card for its annual $110 membership dues yesterday, the credit-card company declined the charge from the National Parks Service site - because of Reichsleiter Musk's diktat limiting federal credit-card transactions to just a dollar.
And now the Roman-saluting product of apartheid and his 34-times convicted felon toady in the White House have made a new enemy: The Harvard Square Business Association:
We called to confirm the credit card number and was told they received notice from Washington DC that their credit card limit had been reduced to $1.00.
We understand there are bigger issues at stake; education, health care, veteran’s services, food stamps, and social security to name just a few. However, we must also know our history and understand our forebears fight for freedom. The Longfellow House - Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site provides visitors from across the globe with historical knowledge and offers folks the experience of being in the same physical space as the first President of the United States of America.
Like so many reversals out of Washington DC of late, this funding matter, may resolve itself in a few days. We surely hope so. We assured the administrator that since the federal government wouldn’t pay their dues, we will "comp" them. Their partnership is too important, their presence is too sacred to all we hold dear.
That fact that this situation actually happened is appalling and unconscionable. The fact this it is not astonishing is a sad testament to where we are in our country today.
It is unprecedented for us to use this platform in this manner, but these are unprecedented times. Silence is complicity. We will not be complicit.
