Boston Police report the man found dead on his houseboat at the Charlestown Marina Sunday night was Joseph Donohue, 65.
Police say Donohue had been stabbed repeatedly. One of his two dogs was found floating near his houseboat, also dead.
WBZ reports a woman who had been arrested at the murder scene on unrelated warrants is not being treated as a suspect in the death of the attorney.
Exactly one month earlier, another man, named Joseph Donahue, 46, was shot to death in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven on Main Street in Charlestown.

I'd have thought the same thing about Sarah Connors except that this is Boston and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting at least 6 Joseph Donohues

Decades ago, in the days of paper phone books, when the phone company charged you extra to have an unlisted number, a friend said "Why pay extra for unlisted? Just list it under a name that isn't yours. If you ask for "John Doe" or "John Smith", the phone company will balk. Just list it under "Francis X. Mahoney"; there's a full page of them in the phone book."

Respect for the dead does not seem to exist anymore.

Does anyone know if this happened anywhere near the medical examiner Quincy's boat? Also, if my name were Joseph Donahue and I lived in Charlestown, I'd lay low for a while.
Was this a hit, where they got the wrong guy last month?

It's a story that has been dramatized a few times on shows like Law and Order, and you have to admit, it's strange coincidence.
NO.

Just .. No.
Law and Order, and the vast majority of police shows, are extremely unrealistic. Please don’t take what you see on scripted television shows as factual.
This was just a strange coincidence in a world where strange things often happen.

Then how do you explain all the thousands of people named Jane or John Doe who are involved in crimes? Hmm???
I didn't say such shows were realistic

But it plays in fictitious settings, and it therefore enters the public thought process. Really, read what I wrote again, do some analysis before jumping to conclusions and maybe cops will have a better reputation.
Your post doesn't warrant much analysis

You postulated an explanation, and then in support gave only one piece of evidence, a description of what happens in cop shows. You made no argument at all. It was reasonable to assume that you thought that that evidence was relevant, and reasonable to correct you, since it quite obviously isn't.
Whatever you do, don't research your opinion delivered as facts

Do any of the neighbors know the 2 dogs names and which one was found dead in the water? What breed were they? It would have been nice to know so people might can find the other dog, he could have run away, been picked up by a shelter, dead on the side of the road, hurt by a Coyote, etc.

An officer found the second dog, so it's probably with Animal Control, if not a relative.
