Update: Massachusetts and New York hospitals and a national group of medical schools ask to join suit. Complaint linked at the end of the story.
A federal judge in Boston today blocked the National Institutes of Health from making immediate cuts in research grants - many already approved by the government - and to file proof now and then every two weeks that it is continuing to distribute the money.
The ruling, by US District Court Judge Angel Kelley, does not mean that Massachusetts and 21 other states will ultimately win their case, but that their universities, hospitals and other research facilities will continue to get their money while the case proceeds in court. Massachusetts said that had the cuts gone into effect, facilities with NIH grants here would be facing a $1 billion shortfall.
However, the ruling also assumes the current regime will, in fact, obey a court order - Lord Musk wants to impeach judges who rule against him and his functionary in the White House.
Kelley ordered the Washington hegemon to supply proof within two days that the money is still being sent out - and to then file reports every other week showing the same.
At issue is an edict issued by NIH in Friday slashing money not for direct grants but for separae "indirect expenses" - that literally keep a roof over researchers and their lights on - which in some cases can amount to more than 60% of the grants won by researchers, but which the federal government said it would immediately limit to 15%. The edict would apply not just to future grants but to ones the government had already agreed to.
A group of 21 states, led by Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell, sued this morning, charging the diktat is arbitrary and capricious, and so illegal, in part because it rescinds money already approved, violates the will of Congress in determining how to spend federal research dollars and gives no rationale for reducing the maximum indirect costs per grant to 15%.Â
Kelley's ruling came on their request for a temporary restraining order came just a few hours later.
Just yesterday, Campbell vowed to fight "the smallest man who ever lived" - referring to Trump, not his puppeteer.Â
Massachusetts is also the lead plaintiff in a suit against another regime edict that assumes the White House can just ignore the 14th Amendment and bar people born here from automatically becoming US citizens.

Disobey a court order? Go to fucking jail. Arrest Musk and all his little affirmative action for shitty white brat hires. Arrest the rental cops blocking access to USAID and NIH. Contempt of court is a thing.
Â
Who's going to arrest them?

BU Police Department?
US Marshals are in the Department of Justice. FBI is in the Department of Justice.
These issues of Constitutional, federal administrative law and federal contract law in the realm of federal spending are going to have to be fully litigated to the Supreme Court to be resolved.

Each of those agents swear an oath to the constitution not to a con man and his side chick. Yes it will probably go to SCOTUS but in meantime they can't just ignore a federal judge's ruling. And honestly SCOTUS has no choice in ruling. They either side with the judge's ruling and the Constitution or they lose all power. If they rule that Trump can ignore federal courts, they might as well go on a very long tech bro funded vacation. Because they won't have jobs.
They will not give up power so easily.
DC Police. Federal Marshalls.

It really is midnight. Either the courts prevail or the anarcho-capitalist torture nazis prevail.

I don't think that will inspire loyalty in those who know where Musk and friends are getting their black market amphetamines/Adderall, party drugs, and hallucinogens.
Without the FDA being functional, who knows what sort of impurities and/or fentanyl could end up in those unregulated products - or how.

The Vice President of the United States has signaled that the administration won't be bound by court decisions. He's a Yale Law School graduate, so this is not someone speaking out of stupidity but in blatant defiance of the constitution.
Most of us don't know it yet, but we're living under a dictatorship.
In the latest news, the President has ordered DoJ not to enforce laws against bribing foreign officials, saying they put US businesses at a competitive disadvantage. A month ago, we had a republic where legislation was done by Congress not the White House. But Congress is increasingly looking like it's irrelevant.

Trump and his minions have nothing to lose. Unfortunately this country is going to be a nightmare for us. These guys are setting the stage for a dictatorship. Reliesing files about JFK and any other nonsense they can come up with is just to destact us from what's really going on. The fact that I believe a lot of these clowns are on drugs may be one of the most concerning part of all this. Have a great day everyone!!!
