Campaign notes: Council challenger goes with mayoral challenger; Globe reports twice on Menino Jr.

Wicked Local Allston/Brighton reports Alex Selvig, running against incumbent AB Councilor Mark Ciommo, has endorsed Floon. Ciommo got 60% of the vote in September in a four-way field.
The Lit Drop lets us know there's a MassVote forum for all eight at-large city council candidates tonight at UMass-Boston. If you miss that, or if you just can't get enough at-large action, the Brighton Allston Improvement Association holds an at-large forum on Thursday in Brighton Center.
The Globe and the Herald use the day after Columbus Day to tell us not much new about the mayor's race: The Globe considers the part marriage of convenience and part buddies-storming-the-castle adventure that is Floon, while the Herald reminds us that, hey, there's this thing about e-mail, you know?
The Globe gives us two stories centering on Tom Menino, Jr., the mayor's BPD detective son. In one, the Globe wonders if a one-man shakeup at the BPD has to do with Menino the younger, while in the other, the Globe reports the city has agreed to settle a lawsuit by a drug suspect who was charging that Menino, Jr. and three other Boston officers cracked the guy's skull in Quincy. Menino the elder told the paper he doesn't get involved in personnel decisions involving his son and didn't know he'd been named in the suit.

The Flaherty-Yoon ticket has all the momentum with a few weeks left until the election. Does anybody seriously think that a fifth Menino term would accomplish anything?

....ripping down signs? Surprised the paper isnt making a bigger point that Flaherty and Yoon share nothing in common yet Flaherty has promised him a job paying over 100k. Flaherty couldnt have changed enough to all of a sudden be an "inclusive" leader. His years silencing minority members in the council speaks to that.
Anyways.....would like to see the city council candidate forum at UMass Boston tonight. Too bad its not on local TV.

I mean, no more weird than Menino being able to maintain an orange-hued spray-on tan in 40-degree Boston weather.
It's basic Politics is Perception -- and if they showed up in the same outfit someone would no doubt quickly call them on it.

Is it really big news that an also ran who spends crazy money on losing efforts in a low-turnout district endorses Floon?
Also, the TAB has been ridiculous recently printing press releases and biased reports as "Staff Reports" instead of opinion. When I wanted biased reporting, I read the Globe or the WSJ.

can't argue with you about the Globe,
however the WSJ does a better job than practically any major paper in America of keeping their editorial page from polluting the news. (No less an authority than that knuckle dragging right-winger, Dan Kennedy, agrees with me.) You may disagree with their editorial page but accusing them of bias, a la the Globe or NY Times, is absurd. Also, if you ever spoke to folks in their newsroom as I have, they are indistinguishable from their colleagues at their competition, (as to world view).
I don't believe Menino
Who seriously believes that Menino didn't know that his son nearly beat somebody to death in Quincy - and that it cost Boston taxpayers $120k to brush it under the carpet?? This does not pass the smell test, plain and simple. This administration is getting desperate and showing its true colors - it lies and lies and lies. It's time to retire this machine on.
