Panera Bread, Lebanese restaurant look to open in West Roxbury

Panera Bread goes before the Boston Licensing Board on Dec. 2 for a license to open a restaurant and patio at 75 Spring St. - in the same little mini-mall as Finagle-A-Bagel (Ed. question: Hmm, does this mean that never overly crowded bagel place is closing? Or staying on to compete?).
If approved, the patio would have seats for up to 16, and would mean a certain kidlet who loves Panera Bread would no longer have to ask her father to drive her all the way over to Dedham.
Meanwhile, renovation work continues apace at the old Spring Blossom, 1249 VFW Parkway, where, according to this article, Ghassan Samaha, the owner of Nicole's Pizza in the South End, is building a Lebanese restaurant. He also has a permit for a patio.
When the two restaurants open, that will bring the number of West Roxbury restaurants with outdoor seating to four (Bertucci's and Skara Grill also have patios) - six if you include the little tables the King puts out and the two tables DeNo's has.

Panera at 75 Spring
Panera at 75 Spring is great news. It'll give locals access to fresh baked bread and baked goods without paying Sugar Bakery prices.
I don't know but I'd bet Panera gets the Finagle space. They frequently pick locations that have visibility from passing traffic plus the other store front in that strip are not big enough for tables.
In the old Hollywood Video?
I wonder if it will go into the old Hollywood Video. Sounds good to me either way, I just don't think of those Finagle things as bagels.

I'm betting bph is right - they're going into the old video store, not the bagel place. The former is huge (I had no idea); the latter is way too small.
Took this picture last night (on the way to Five Guys, I must admit). Yes, the lights were blazing in a place that's been closed for months. The Finagle-A-Bagel was also fully lit up even though it closes at 3 p.m. each day.
Speaking of the bagel place, we need to add them to the list of West Roxbury places with outdoor seating. Although I suspect we'll be removing it not long after Panera opens - I just can't see them competing with Panera (I'm also surprised their lease doesn't seem to have a non-compete clause; unless maybe they were planning to close anyway, but what do I know?)

But if you like bagels – and all food actually -- that was par-baked in East Oshkosh 6 months ago, blast frozen , shipped all over the country and thawed in a toaster oven then you should really enjoy a new Panera bread. Another publically-held, corporate behemoth gobbling up the over-priced under-utilized areas of our city. I hope Finagle doesn’t close, but if it does, I’ll get my hot fresh onion bagel with light cream cheese at their store on Rte 9.”

I noticed today that Finagle a Bagel is closed - so I guess maybe Panera is going in there.
