Little Bo Peep, report to Millennium Park!

Little lamb animal

Mary Ellen spotted a different kind of creature on her morning walk around Millennium Park this morning: This little lost sheep. Little Bo Peep, or perhaps Shari Lewis, will find Lamb Chop on a railing along the lower path, just past the first bridge into the woods heading towards the kayak launch and the lower parking lot.

I loved her when I was a kid back in the 1960s and it was a joy that she returned right as my kid was the right age for her show. So rare for there to be something that both of us shared (Sesame Street didn't arrive until I was too old for it).

Good times!

Shari's daughter Mallory Lewis has kept Lamb Chop going, too, though only as live performances so far because DreamWorks owns the media rights.

I was a "Romper Room" fan. A kids TV show that came on before your parent would take you to kindergarten. Shari Lewis and Captain Kangaroo were for those days when you might be home sick, or school was cancelled. Ms. Jean made me a Do-Bee, Shari Lewis was the best ventriloquist out there and Captain Kangaroo was just wild!

R.I.P to both of those lovely Baby Boomer role models, and the world would be a better place if we still had Captain Kangaroo!
