Dear Fellow State Representative 10th Suffolk District West Roxbury, Brookline, and Roslindale Candidates:
I propose an online Facebook candidate forum. Can we take a break from fanfare Facebook politics in the 10th Suffolk District? I enjoy social media too but as you all know, we have not had one opportunity to participate in a candidate forum. If we can't agree on my proposed online forum, can we work together on organizing an online Facebook forum?
With little time left before primary day (September 14th), this is a great opportunity for us as candidates to pioneer our own internet candidate forum. Perhaps other candidates running in other campaigns will follow our pioneering path.
Maybe State Senate Candidate Mike Rush will participate in a candidate forum too. I know his fellow candidates would like to bring their message to voters at a candidate forum. Forget relying on media commentary, I don't know what happened to reporting the news.
Let's hold a 10th Suffolk District State Representative Candidate online forum. Why wait? We can start with casino gambling. That's timely considering the recent Beacon Hill vote. The state senate passed the casino gambling bill, 25-15.
1. Issue: Casino Gambling-I would vote against casino gambling. I view casino gambling as a regressive tax on working families and low-income citizens.
Let's work together now to establish a fair progressive tax system. This is 2010. How is casino gambling a solution in a state where citizens are suffering economically?
State Senator Marian Walsh and State Senator Cynthia Creem were 2 of the 15 state senators who agree with my "vote no" position on casino gambling.
Fellow candidate, Kelly Tynan, published her pro-casino position on her campaign website but none of our other fellow candidates published a position on casino gambling.
Earlier, I reviewed the campaign websites of my fellow candidates to learn where they stand on casino gambling.
Matt Benedetti and Ed Coppinger have no political positions published on their campaign websites.
Bob Joyce has published issues on his campaign website but no mention of casino gambling.
Paul Sullivan published issues but no mention of casino gambling.
Kelly Tynan would have voted yes to casino gambling if elected as our state representative. Kelly, can you elaborate on why you support casino gambling or has your position changed?
How would my fellow candidates vote and why? I realize there are many issues and none of us have addressed every potential issue or pending bill on our campaign website but that's another reason why it would be great if we could agree on an online candidate forum to address issues so that voters can learn about our proposed solutions and where we stand on issues before September 14th.
In response to earlier requests, the Brookline Town Democratic Committee forum is scheduled on August 10, 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at the Brookline Town Hall, but many residents will be away on summer vacation. I reached out to ward leaders, the League of Women Voters, Boston high school student leaders, and the local media requesting they consider co-hosting a forum.
In addition, other voters who may coordinate and host a forum sometime in August responded to my request. The benefit of an online forum: Every word is published, not subjected to selective quotes or biased commentary.
I look forward to hearing from you and engaging in a substantive exchange regarding the gambling issue and other issues that concern our fellow residents and potential constituents.
Sincerely,
Pamela

Kelly is one of many great women running this year and we are all pulling for her! She's down to earth, constituent oriented and progressive!
