That's OK, we have Your Town sites (and a few years ago, CNC Town Online sites) for Somerville, Cambridge, Waltham, and Newton, all of which are cities.

And... and... what's the deal with airline food?

The NYT folks probably felt (strange though it may sound) that using "town" would evoke "hometown," which is how a whole lot of people refer to where they grew up, or have been long enough to consider their adopted... hometown. Not -city, but -town, and nothing meant to evoke one form or another of municipal government, which-- for most of us earthlings-- have little to do with one's sense of "home."

Fascinating. How much local news can a city/town/neighborhood handle?

The South End News has definitely been pushing online content to a higher level, the past month or two.

The South End now has it plus the Globe's site plus Patch is about to launch there.

The Back Bay has the Globe and Patch is about to launch there, too.

And, there's the Boston Courant, too, although they seem content to consider ignoring this thing we call the World Wide Web.

Having perused the "town" of Cambridge page since its inception I'd recommend that the good folks living in these 6 "town" save themselves from reading this. The coverage is linked to a handful of trite sites and is hardly ever updated. Seems that no human is dedicated to editing the site.
Thorough waste of time.
