Not to take anything away from Scott Brown ...

But he's not a Bostonian - he's from Wrentham (and for those who think I'm just a commie pinko hippie, well, yeah, OK, maybe I am, but I kvetched when the Globe named Deval Patrick "Bostonian" of the year, too).

That was my first reaction as well. For that matter, neither is Elizabeth Scheibel a Bostonian, and Doug Glover doesn't even live in Massachusetts, although the Weston water main break that he helped to repair did affect Boston proper.

that he immunizes against charges of partisanship is more a reflection of his audience than himself. And more to the point, Adam says the thing EVERYONE is thinking.

While Wrentham is no Milton (and therefore Brown deserves hick-cred) his barn coat is made of glove leather and contrary to the image it projects, it isn't worn to clean the barn; and his truck isn't necessary to work the family farm, rather it is necessary to haul his daughters show horse and trailer to her horse shows (not that there's anything wrong with it.)

He works in Boston, at least (although I think he lives in Brookline).

Ward8Mahatma - I think you misread Anonymous's "county" as "country". Malcolm Rogers lives in Brookline - ie Norfolk county, as opposed to Boston, which is part of Suffolk county.

(Btw, I agree that if the Glob was trying to make a statement about which individual this year has had the greatest impact on Boston (or even metro Boston) then they should have gone with Mr. Rogers.)

The name not bother me, it is just a way to recognize someone who had a lot of influence in the past year. It sounds better than "Massachusetts resident". Maybe they could change it to "Bay Stater".

The comment about Malcolm Rogers intrigued me, decades from now we will still be enjoying the results of his bold vision. The whole concept of "Art of the Americas," not just the building, will influence the art world beyond Boston.

Well he was raised in WAKEFIELD and we can see the Prudential building from here, we are within 10 miles from Boston, it's close enough to say Scott Brown is a Bostonian

You can also see the Pru from certain spots in Framingham, Gloucester, Ipswich [Hog Island summit], and Hingham. Are those folk Bostonians too? Gloucester is 30 miles away.
