Why do some people think this is a problem? Aversion to bare feet is more a superstition than anything else.
I'm far more disgusted by people who sneeze into their hands and then touch the poles in the subway.
By the way, any business that claims shoes are required by law is *lying*. There are no known laws requiring customers to wear shoes anywhere in the U.S. Of course, a business can set its own dress code, but they can't blame it on the government.
