Dave Atkins of Roslindale reports he's gotten two of these Flaherty cards, both signed, in slightly different handwriting, by "John."
Am I supposed to mistake this card as an endorsement of Michael Flaherty by John Connolly?
Connolly, of course, has flooned Ayanna Pressley, but is also running as a sort of non-slate slate with the other two incumbents, Felix Arroyo and Steve Murphy.
Flaherty gave up his at-large seat to run for mayor in 2009. Sean Ryan and Will Dorcena round out the field in Tuesday's election, in which voters will pick four at-large councilors.

The four incumbents have closed rank. They may hate each other, but they all would hate losing their jobs more. They're hanging together for fear of being the one that hangs alone.

Four years ago, it was John Connolly mailing out anonymous dirt against his new buddy Stephen Murphy. He ended up confessing he was behind the attack postcards, but it was truly, as Universal Hub said then, a "gutless" performance. http://www.universalhub.com/node/11217
Connolly deserves what he gets. I might end up voting for him, but I'll never respect him as I might have before he mailed those 2007 anonymous hit pieces.

I contacted John Tobin. The signature is not his.
He would sign his full name to anything that did not have his return address.

John happens to be a huge supporter of Michael and spent many hours trying to reach out to voters by signing Dear Friends cards. Its no wonder his signature looks slightly different on each card. I'm pretty sure my signature wouldn't look exactly the same either after all those hours of signing. Maybe the man from Roslindale should take his cards to a handwriting analysis. I will personally vouch for John.
