Even as police were continuing to investigate the sudden death of a woman at one end of Fairlawn Avenue in Mattapan tonight, a man was being shot three or four times at the other end, AlertNewEngland reports.
The man was shot in a parking lot off Bismarck Street shortly before 8 p.m. He told police he had no idea who shot him or which way he fled. The woman's body was found at the other end of the complex at 50 Fairlawn Ave.. Three years ago, a baby being held by his father was shot in the liver at 70 Fairlawn; two years ago, two bodies were discovered in 50 Fairlawn.

A mother of a young child was murdered, in her apartment, in an apartment complex where a lot of other families live and are hugging each other a little more tightly tonight.
I assume it would be OK with you if someone murdered someone in your home too? We should just let you all kill yourselves, right? No one should care about anyone?

Those dirty brawling (Irish/Italian/Jewish/Polish/Current Immigrant Group) people can't seem to be civilized. Look at how (dirty/filthy/dangerous) their neighborhoods are! They get the littlest bit of money and spend it on (booze/opium/drugs/cigarettes) and leave their families without fathers! Their houses are (squalid/in poor repair/overcrowded with animals) and they are always killing each other and nobody ever talks to the police! The (ethnic group) are a drain on society and should be swept out and sent ...
Yes, Flushl - stop us if we have heard this one about marginalized people in blighted areas before.

that Billings and O-FISH-L are 100% Native American with tribal affiliation. That's the only way that it would make sense for them to have complaints about this area being more theirs than other people's.

What is a complex?

Why use complex instead of apartment building or development? I understand there have been a number of incidents there. But complex makes me think of some sort of institution and not someones home.
Complex is normal term

Complex, whether it be Apartment Complex or Condominium Complex is the standard term to use when discussing multiple but related residential buildings. So when you have a number of buildings next to each other or around a focal point that are all owned or managed by the same group or company they are referred to as a "Complex".
Yeah, that's what I'd call it too

This isn't one building opening onto a city street; it's a suburbanesque fenced plot of land with several brick buildings scattered around courtyards and parking lots. The buildings are that classic 1960s suburban-apartment-complex layout, with the larger buildings that have a door at each end and open staircases going up or down to a hallway full of apartments on either side, and the smaller ones with a single door, open staircase, an apartment on the left and right of each floor. Every apartment has a sliding glass door leading to a balcony, etc. Totally an apartment complex.

there are signs in the parking lot saying "front wheel parking only." I never have figured out where I'm supposed to put the rest of the car.

the map is wrong; this complex is off of Cummins Highway. The street to access it is Bismarck St.
