Bagel place faces possible penalties for too many poopy seeds

Wicked Local Brookline reports Kupel's faces disciplinary action after a February inspection found mouse droppings - "too many to count" - on raw dough in a refrigerator. Owner says he was shocked and fixed the problem.

Apparently anon thinks that Kehillath Israel runs the local kosher certification program, or something.

For the record, KI is on the other side of Harvard Street, but isn't actually "across the street" from Kupel's. I don't think that the ReMax Real Estate office that is across the street from Kupel's has much to do with kosher certification, either.

recently a flyer came from a new Mexican restaurant in Dorchester. One of the desserts was "Mango Mouse Tart". A new treat? Maybe a new source of protein?

about 2 weeks ago, for the first time in years. I recall thinking how filthy it looked and how the people behind the counter kind of fit in with the filthy theme. It certainly wasn't the Kupel's I remembered from my youth.

Bagels were delicious, but the place just turned me off. And now this! Oi vey! What Jewish kashruth board was paid off to look the other way in this case?!??

For a very large Jewish population, the paucity of clean, attractive, kosher take-out places in Brookline baffles me. Apparently, Brookline Jews like their take out food places filthy, mediocre at best and old fashioned (Kupel's, Butcherie, etc.).

Just curious, but how so? The people are always wearing gloves and have their hair covered or tied back.
