The Jamaica Plain Gazette opined yesterday:
President Obama finally caught up with Jamaica Plain today on same-sex marriage, declaring his personal support for it in a groundbreaking announcement.
The Gazette noted that the lawsuit that made us the first state to legalize same-sex marriage had several JP plaintiffs, including Julie and Hillary Goodridge, for whom the case was named.

Long before it had a diverse gay community,
JP had a solid lesbian community that contributed much to make it the place it is today. Yesterday was a great day and I was pleased to see the JP Patch acknowledge it. No one's claiming we're the center of the universe, but as the long-time home of many famous and influential lesbians and gay men, it was appropriate for our local Patch to fly our flag.

With the revelation in the news tonight of a young Willard Romney chasing down closeted gay youth with his friends to hold them down on the ground and cut their hair, I have to wonder if the Obama administration was preemptively announcing his evolution or if he was just lucky.
