Once again, mystery boom rattles Roslindale

Around 10 p.m., people living near Fallon Field reported a loud boom - which could be heard as far away as Allandale Farm.
UPDATE: Around 10:45, residents reported more booms. This time, though, they may have been by somebody setting off fireworks at Fallon Field. Chris Fanson reports:
Yep, saw them from my window. Looked nice, actually.

Heard 'em in W. Roxbury...
.. nears shaw's. I thought they were fireworks coming from Millenium Park. Maybe fireworks were being set off at both locations.
Fireworks in Roslindale
Do fireworks not usually go off over there? I'm asking seriously, not trying to be a smart ass. I live smack dab in codman square, and it sounded like Fallujah out here during Fourth of July weekend.
They do, but ...
Not usually like this. And not usually into August. At least one of the incidents was caused by one big-ass fireworks explosion at Fallon Field that left a nice-sized crater, but the others?

There were fireworks going off last night, heard them by the water Southie. I'm guessing that Roslindale is getting some professional firework reverberations, without the visuals.

There was one 'boom' around 10:15 then about 2 minutes later there was a series of booms - i looked out my window and those were infact fireworks.

Sounded like a .45 going off, I hopped in my car and wanted to see if anything happened.. finally can clarify they were only fireworks. Did the people get in trouble?

I heard them and they were definitely much louder than the noises from downtown fireworks.

live near Fallon, heard 'em a few times last night. they were fireworks every time (think I heard them at least 3x). if you listened closely you could hear the glitter after the initial boom.
I live near Fallon Field and
they were fireworks. I could hear the initial booms, then the crackling of the fireworks going off. Seems ridiculous to be doing it in August. It's very loud and my poor dog just freaks out.
What makes this a mystery? Is
What makes this a mystery? Is it a mystery until they drop the cherry bomb down your pants? There are no union rules about when kids can set off fireworks. I hear them through the season where I live, and it never occurs to me to consider the booms a mystery.
This is quite simple. Instead of assuming a mystery, how about asking this question: is there a plausible explanation for booms in an urban environment during the summer? It's not like kids are going to tell you ahead of time when they set off fireworks.
Please note: Windsor Ontario complains about a 'hum' from across the border, where Americans hear nothing. Some years ago, there were reports of a low frequency thumping in Ohio. These are mysteries. Fireworks in the city are no mystery.
I live right in the area
I live right in the area where one of the first "booms" happened and that sound was nothing like any fireworks I've ever heard. Yes, people do set off fireworks from time to time, but this sounded and felt like a huge cannon. Shook the earth and walls of the houses with a deep, low BOOM, not a pop or crack.
