This time, the rail was between South Station and Broadway, shortly before 1 p.m., and, of course, its impact was felt all up and down the Red Line.
Mykah Murphy tweeted from Park Street:
MBTA workers shouting at one another, no Ashmont/Braintree bound trains leaving Park station. No trains on Alewife tracks.
Christine added:
The best is they are telling us to take the green and orange lines instead...that makes sense.
The past three months have seen a series of cracked rails on the Red Line.

We are having boring, ordinary weather today. What else, besides heat-related metal expansion and contraction, would cause this?
this is getting to be regoddamndiculous

What the dilly?
*Signal problems
*Track problems
*Afraid of liability from hitting someone in someplace they don't belong?
How did the tracks and signal systems get so bad?
Come to think of it, many of the trains are getting long in the tooth, too.
I said it before and I will

Say it again. The workers maintaining the MBTA don't do much work at all. The whole system is curupt and broken. There are secret rooms in the tunnels and yards that the workers watch TV and play Xbox on the clock. They have people punch them in and out while they stay home. More shit will break down just you wait. Some people will get killed from lack of maintenance soon.
It's certainly not the lack

It's certainly not the lack of money and the crushing levels of debt. It must be the secret rooms with the TVs.
I have said for a long time it might take the deaths...

of several people on a derailing train, in a tunnel fire, on a collapsing bridge or some other catastrophe that destroys many families before this cowardly legislature is shamed into fixing problems it created.
The Governor's plan is far from perfect, and I am not a huge fan of several things he has done over his time in the corner office, but hell, at least the guy had the guts to tell the truth and say that we've been underfunding our transportation infrastructure (of all kinds) for years and that it's time to pay the piper (because if we don't we're going to hear some pipes alright).
Again with the secret rooms in tunnels bullshit?

Tell me, oh wise one, how many have you come across again? Oh, none? Same here, and I've actually seen some rooms.
Fuck off, anon.

Bev's doing a bang up job so far avoiding the public. Can she at least make some kind of statement telling those of us who ride the Red Line 5-6 days/week that we're not in mortal danger?
A simple statement that they're taking this seriously? Is a little leadership too much to ask?
