Earworm alert!

Jeez, I'd forgotten about it but as soon as I saw the guy in the top hat, I remembered the dancing silhouette from Evening Magazine.

FTW!

Anyone do a count? How many of these companies no longer exist? Baybank? NYNEX?

I doubt it.

Good lord!

a carpet clean? ANDrew 8-8000!

How many cookies did Andrew eat? ANDrew 8 8000.

is that jingle in here somewhere? I have never actually heard it, so maybe I'm not sure what to be listening for.

Another legendary commercial I have yet to hear (nor find online): Brown Eggs Are Local Eggs

Although it's not in the video (I don't think it is, anyway), Andrew 8-8000 is a reference to the jingle that ran forever on local radio and TV for Adams&Swett carpet cleaning:

"How many cookies did Andrew eat,
Andrew ate 8000
How do you keep your carpets neat
Call ANdrew 8-8000"

It ran back in the days when telephone exchanges used letters.

The jingle actually goes:

"How many cookies did Andrew eat?
Andrew ate 8,000
How did he get his carpet clean?
He called Andrew 8-8000" (which is 268-8000)

So the cookie eating is linked to the carpet, as 8,000 cookies will indeed make a lot of crumbs! The thing is I don't remember the name of the company, only the catchy jingle.

That is the biggest slice of awesome pie ever!

How could they leave out the Aquarium and the MoS?

what -- no love for Bob's wicked pissa furnichah?!

(And yeah, that's a quote from the video!) ;)

I nearly blew a gasket at the WLVI jingle.

I also thought I was the only one who remembered Dean's home furniture.

When did Curly grow a beard?!

They got LightandLeisurethePUUURRRPLEBILLLDING! in there, so I'm happy. My jingle is jangled.

I think I first lost it at THEPURRRRRPLEBUILLLLDING. And kept losing it.

Was surprised there was no mention of National Lumbah, "Wait til you see us!" On the other hand, their ad campaign usually consisted of people singing the jingle slightly off-key, so maybe the guys wanted to avoid repetition and they more than made up for it with the Evening Magazine tapdancer and LIVIN' 56.

Terrific all around, though.

I think attempting the WGBH sound was my favorite part

I'm only sorry that apparently they never spent a summer working on the Cape so we could have "HEY! Wherrrreya goin?..."

Also, I soar like an eagle:

And remember when phone companies tried to get us to make more calls?

This commercial goes back to the days when BayBanks (plural) were a rather loose and not entirely well-organized collection of smaller banks that had all agreed to use a common brand name.

A commercial with the full New England Telephone jingle:

Can someone make a GIF the guy on the right dancing/singing the Giant Glass jingle (seconds 25-28)- love it! These guys are great!

"Everyone shops at Mals (shops at Mals); all the guys and gals (guys and gals)!!!!!!!
Dating myself

Not a jingle, but I can't get that one out of my head, especially not when I'm on 93 and go through the tunnel, because that thing used to play incessantly back when the Central Artery was still up and you'd get stuck in the tunnel and all the stations would be replaced by "Tunnel Radio," which apparently was perpetually sponsored by Tony Floramo's.
