Maureen Feeney: Crazy like a fox?

Joe Keohane talks to the Dot councilor about her citywide "civic engagement" thing at the convention center and how it's all systems go despite grumblings from Hizzona:

... The whole thing, she insists, will be very structured, not the moonbat convention many worry it will devolve into.

So, she's apparently for real. The event could hit or it could tank, but it's good to see someone taking the initiative to actually inspire some real dialogue in this town. In, fact, it's kind of amazing that something like this never happened before. ...

People might actually demand some control over the government they pay for!

What next, civil servants and politicians who understand that they work for the taxpayer and not for the patronage system that installed them?

What a nightmare! It might actually put us off of our timeline to become the next Baltimore of Detroit!

Change the City's Charter and abolish the Mayor's Office and City Council and replace them with an executive board, say a board of maybe three or five select citizens elected at large from the city whose powers are almost strictly executive (with the exception of certain powers to issue orders, etc) and governs by consensus and a legislative body made up of a several hundred members, divided among the precincts, that is to meet several times per year to vote on issues facing the city (IE pass laws, bond issues, zoning, etc) set to an agenda and hold one "annual meeting" to set the municipal budget. It has kind of a familiar ring to it, I wonder if this sort of thing has worked before..

I wish she would pull back a bit on the perfume.

Unless it's worn to counteract Chuck Turner's scent.
