Now that Mumbles is on his way out. Will take a while to get the new graft network built after the changeover. :)

Wasn't the head of the hackney unit just dismissed for naughtiness?
But yes - nowadays when I call the mayor's hotline and get the same old bullshit like "that's not ah dephaaatment", I just smile and resist saying "I hope you enjoy the unemployment line after September."
I predict a summer of city workers realizing their jobs are at risk, and shit actually getting done...or will they all just throw their weight behind Menino's choice?
What I really want to know: can we remove/paint over all the "Thomas M. Menino" on everything?
Guns drawn, eh?

Has the IRS started hiring a bunch of trigger-happy crackpots, or did they actually anticipate armed resistance from these guys? Not that I don't think Boston Cab has been evading taxes, but it's hardly worth killing people over. Can you imagine the IRS drawing their guns while executing a warrant at HSBC or JP Morgan?

"Has the IRS started hiring a bunch of trigger-happy crackpots,..."
Why do you interpret agents with guns drawn as possibly "trigger-happy crackpots?" Does carrying a gun = trigger-happy? Do you suspect that the IRS agents aren't skilled, experienced or licensed WRT weapons? Do you suspect that anyone with a gun is a crackpot?
"...but it's hardly worth killing people over."
Come on. Drawn guns =/= killing.

Those are the guys who do the armed raids. If you get raided by them it's not because they want to audit you or because you owe a couple years' worth of back taxes. It's because they suspect you ought to be in jail.
I bought my first car at a government auction and it turned out that it was formerly used by an IRS-CI agent. I found a bunch of goodies under the front seat that they had forgotten to remove before disposing of the car, including:
-List of radio callsigns for all IRS-CI agents in the region
-Itinerary for a day of hand-to-hand combat training at Ft. Devens
-Stack of Dunkin Donuts napkins
-One fossilized macaroon (coconut?)

Cab biz is a cash biz therefore used as money laundering operations throughout the US. Tax evasion rampant but not only that, the money may be going to support terrorists operations because it's a huge biz for illegal immigrants, cash, laundering.
