A forum on Thursday will give the dozen people running for mayor another shot at explaining their plans for education in Boston.
The forum starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Rabb Lecture Hall at the BPL main branch in Copley Square. Sponsors are EdVestors, Teach Plus, MassINC, the Boston Foundation and Massachusetts 2020.

The next mayor can do his or her part by who is appointed to the Board of Ed. The mayor can also stand up to unions that care about benefits but not results. But results are also up to parents. You can spend $10K , $20K or $30K per student and get the same dismal results if there is no will on the family's parts. The families stay up all night watching TV, playing X Box. No one is telling the kids to pick up a book, to study, to eat correctly or to pull up their pants when they go to school. Education is not valued among some people. Teachers can't be to blame for that, nor should administrators or even the mayor.
