I am an NU student and
I am an NU student and received this in my email earlier. But the Globe has nothing whatsoever on its front page on this shooting - I can't find it mentioned anywhere else. Very strange.
Strange? No, its a "bad"
Strange? No, its a "bad" neighborhood as far as the press in Boston is concerned. Don't worry, when a shooting happens downtown they'll have a half dozen reporters at the scene right away.
Strange is that the Herald and NECN had people at a non-fatal shooting in Mattapan last night almost immediately. Almost had hope it would be the start of a new trend, but no.
I understand. I am a CJ
I understand. I am a CJ student - the lack of focus on murders in the city of people who aren't young white women is nothing new. "Strange" was the incorrect word, more like frustrating.
Exactly.
Exactly.
inside what business? Was this a robbery?
I'm curious what business this happened inside. The Google street view shows a grocery store (Pena's market) and a cell-phone store, but street view is sometimes inaccurate, and I'm not always sure it's showing me the right side of the street.
He worked at the cellphone
He worked at the cellphone store, called iWorld accessories
Roxse homes
Why am I not surpised? Do they need some random student murdered before they bulldoze that sh*thole?
I don't know how bulldozing
I don't know how bulldozing homes affects the murder rate.
And yes, they do need a random student murdered first, preferably a white one, for the Globe or anyone else to pay any attention.
What's wrong with the building?
The building that Google Maps shows for 1053 Tremont looks, at least from the outside, attractive, solidly-built, and well-maintained.
What would we accomplish by demolishing every building where a murder ever occurred?
Because
It's a housing project full of violent gangbangers willing to murder someone over a cheap phone (see above) located right next door to two colleges? Move the criminal trash giving all poor on govt assistance a bad name to some isolated location where land and labor are cheap, and give the other 90% or so section 8 vouchers. With all the money being wasted on the select few (army of social workers, probation officers, judges, police overtime, shooting-related hospital bills) coming back into the budget, there will be more than enough for everyone. Also, there will be less of NIMBY attitude towards section 8 once landlords know their building won't turn into a crackhouse as soon as the new tenant moves in.
Because you know the person
Because you know the person that shot him and you know that he lives in that building? If you do, you should go to the police with that information instead of spewing your self-righteous verbal diarrhea here. Oh wait, but then you wouldn't be able to troll comment sections ranting and raving about the evils of public welfare without any sort of research or evidence to back up your statements.
