Dighton Parks Commissioner Republican David Rosa Argues Citizens Should Arm Themselves Against The Police For Safety

Read Florida Cops Shoot Unarmed Black Man In His Mother’s Driveway

I fail to see how Roy Middleton's safety, or the two police officers' safety, would have been improved if Roy Middleton was armed and brandished his weapon. It certainly would increase the likelihood of more gunshot injuries and maybe death, especially if Roy's aim was better than the two officers.

In any case, more guns is a stupid argument here. You might want to think twice about choosing a Dighton park for a family picnic, less you get caught in the crossfire.

You can read more about David Rosa on the Bristol County Republicans website, Republican Official Spotlight: Dighton's David Rosa.

If Roy Middleton had been armed, how would he have used the gun to keep from being shot?

I'll post an update when (or if) I get one.

that's the whole point.

Frankly, I'm more than grateful that the Bay State has some of the strictest gun laws, or we might've had a Sandy Hook, or an Aurora, CO incident already. The people who want our gun laws loosened have an irresponsible attitude, imho.

First, you have a broken link to an article about me. The new link is at www.daverosa2014.com/about

Second, I believe everyone has an absolute right to self-defense, and police cannot be everywhere all the time. That is the reason for my advocacy for an armed populace.

Clearly, the police were not looking to shoot the wrong man. But consider this: if a crook knew that people in the neighborhood were armed and vigilant, would he be more likely, or less likely, to be there? I will guess that he would not be there in the shooting gallery. The police would recognize this, and be less likely to shoot first and ask questions later; perhaps, they would not need to be there in the first place.

An armed society is a polite society. More guns, fewer crooks, less crime.

This time it was the police shooting. But you know as well as I do, crooks shoot people all the time; and they do it disproportionally in places with the strictest gun laws. This is a fact.

Like drugs, bad guys will always find ways of getting stuff they want regardless of the law. My aim is to put guns into the hands of more willing and lawful gun owners to counteract the bad guys. While we can disagree on the efficacy of such a plan, I can point to where such tactics work, and this is where I think my argument is the stronger one.

Thank you for bringing attention to my pro- civil-rights advocacy.

This ^ is ignorant blather and distraction.

When two Florida cops shot an 60yr old unarmed black man in his mother’s driveway, Dave Rosa said it is a "great reason for armed populace."

When asked how Roy Middleton (60yr old unarmed black man) would have used the gun to keep from being shot Dave prattles on about right to defense and police not being there "all the time". The police were there.

So the question remains: "If Roy Middleton had been armed, how would he have used the gun to keep from being shot?"

Not interested in hearing more ignorant and fallacious claims like

  • An armed society is a polite society
  • More guns, fewer crooks, less crime.

or

  • How more "willing and lawful gun owners counteract the bad guys."

Just answer the question: "If Roy Middleton had been armed, how would he have used the gun to keep from being shot?"

Glad that you wrote.

I hope that UHub commenters will engage in thoughtful debate over your position. But I don't expect it.
