At 9:17 p.m., Stephanie Ebbert of the Globe tweeted:
John Connolly has conceded. It's Mayor Marty Walsh.
The Suffolk Downs casino proposal lost big in East Boston. Revere's mayor is vowing to try to have the entire project moved 500 feet so that it's all in Revere and Boston can suck it when it comes to community benefits, since Revere voters said yes to the casino.
Walsh came on the stage at the Park Plaza around 10:45 p.m., later than scheduled; he said that's because he was talking to President Obama, who called to congratulate him.
"My parents had dreams for their kid, but I'm not sure they were this big," he told a cheering crowd.
"Together we're going to make Boston a place where dreams come true for every child, for every person, in every corner of this city," he said.
Walsh pointed to the way the city got through the Marathon bombings and the Red Sox won the world series. "This is Boston Strong. And together we're going to make Boston even stronger. ... Stand with me, because I'm ready to stand and work with you."
Walsh vowed to bring universal pre-K to every neighborhood, reform high schools and help small businesses that he said are the backbone of city neighborhoods.
He praised both Mayor Menino and former Mayor Flynn for their work.
In other races:
The anti-casino vote didn't help anti-casino District 1 candidate Brian Gannon, who lost handily to incumbent Sal LaMattina.
Josh Zakim won in District 8 (Mike Ross's old seat); Tim McCarthy declared victory in District 5 (Rob Consalvo's old seat). Bill Linehan retained his District 2 seat. Yancey won in District 4, O'Malley cruised in District 6 and Jackson in District 7.
For at-large seats, it's Flaherty, Wu, Pressley and Murphy.
Latest results from the city elections department.
To our south, New York City has elected another Bay Stater as mayor, this time Cambridge native and Red Sox fan Bill De Blasio.

of the lovely statements you have made about John Connolly before I replied to you. I can only hope your fanatical devotion to Marty "Scumbag" Walsh pays off for you on a personal basis. Me, I see a city about to get screwed by a bought and paid for hack.
dvdoff's an internet stalker stalking Connolly, Walsh, & Bennett
By Douglas Bennett

Just read Gawker.com. Dan has been stalking John Connolly for months and now he's stalking Marty Walsh. He's phony. He claims he is a cab driver who parks in South Boston, but he's a liar. He also stalks Howie Carr. This individual is a sad pathethic dirty diaper enjoys being the "internet stalker" even though everyone knows who he is.
Ya, Doug, thanks for the link

How would you know I post on either Gawker or the Herald websites? I never mention that here, Dougie? Who is stalking who here? And who the fuck is Dan? Surely you can't still think I'm Dan Farnkoff? You know the guy you gave a $300.00 check to and called "a great guy"?
This line kills me though....
"This individual is a sad pathethic dirty diaper enjoys being the "internet stalker" even though everyone knows who he is.'
Who am I, Doug? And your command of the English language is somewhere around second grade level, by the by..
Of course, Doug's political future can easily be summed up by where the URL for his last campaign website now leads you. It's at Bennettforboston.com.
Here's a direct quote from it:
"Bennettforboston.com is a site providing reliable reviews and information about men’s health supplement, the Super Beta Prostate."
I'm not kidding....because we all know it takes an asshole to know one...
Best perspective yet!

Looks like 38 percent turnout
By Michael Kerpan

Pretty pathetic.
It looks like the best turn-out was in West Roxbury-Jamaica Plain and Roslindale-Hyde Park. Worst turnout was in Districts 8 and 9 (down in the 20s).
High turnover districts

Students and lots of rentals. Probably 10-15% of the residents (even though registered to vote) didn't live here last year and another 10-15% won't live here next year.
Looks like turnout in districts 8-9 was 4-5 times what it was in 2009. Granted, incumbents weren't running - but close to 30% has to be some kind of record around here for a non-presidential election. We are getting there and one thing that we haven't had in the past was a get out the vote move. Several of the neighborhood associations are talking about putting together programs to try and improve these numbers. With more people settling in cities for the longer term, politicians would probably be wise to pay attention to the downtown turnout. I think it will gradually start to increase.
Hope Walsh...

Bummer. Living out here in the boonies, I don't want Milford to have a casino. I was counting on one of the sites near Boston to get the one casino in eastern MA. Now with Eastie out of the picture, the vote in Milford on Nov 19 has a lot more impact.
