One of the Boston area's rare failed Dunkin' Donuts is getting turned into a bagel shop - on VFW Parkway northbound just past the Dedham line.
The Bagelville outlet is being outfitted by the owners of the bagel stand at Faneuil Hall Marketplace - who promise fresh bagels baked daily, along with bagel-based sandwiches and smoothies.
The parkway is already home to a Bruegger's. The Spring Street Panera also sells bagel-like breadstuffs. In contrast, Roslindale has an awning over Bob's Pita Bakery that promises "Bagel."

Their Faneuil Hall location is way overpriced.

I wish them luck, but if the prices at the West Roxbury location are to be anything like their Faneuil Hall prices ($4-$6 for a bagel with cream cheese, $7-$8 for a breakfast sandwich), I don't have much hope for their success. Even though it's the closest bagel place to where I work, I usually opt for Bruegger's on School St or (preferably) the Center Plaza Finagle-a-Bagel for my bagel needs.
Panera doesn't just sell

Panera doesn't just sell "bagel-like breadstuffs," they sell bagels -- *delicious* french toast bagels and cinnamon crunch bagels, to name two. Their bagels are way better than Bagelville's too.
Anyway, I would also give Bagelville a chance here. We all know FH is a tourist trap and the prices are inflated. Hopefully they adjust prices down for the market they are serving. My main problem with Bagelville is that the workers they hire cannot speak or write proper English. Their signs are often written in Engrish. They are hilarious, though sad. "ESPECIAL!" "Noddle!"
There's always Cheryl Ann's in Putterham

Actually, "especial" is a word, an adjective, actually. And, well, "noddle" is incorrect but you get the idea, right?
I just hope you are not one of those, "You live in America, speak the darn language" folks. So tiresome, especial around the holidays.

Katz? That's one thing I miss about working in Chelsea. On the other hand, Bagel World in Reading and Rt1 have even better bagels, in my opinion.
Why do you like Bagel World bagels better than Katz' bagels?

I really hope Justin Timberlake will be at the grand opening dressed as a Bagel singing "bring it on down to Bagelville!!!" And dancing for the speeding cars on the VFW Parkway!
