iPhones aren't the only things Bostonians line up for
By adamg on Sat, 09/20/2014 - 10:53am
When Dana Gitell got to Legacy Place in Dedham around 9:20 this morning, she saw two long lines. Yes, one was outside the Apple store (below). But the other was outside L.L. Bean, where people were lined up for Red Sox "limited edition" tote bags.

Oh boy more FSF spam. Wish I
Oh boy more FSF spam. Wish I saw this early.
Just googled the tote
Actually rather cool. Its made from a tarp that covered Fenway during rain delay at one point with all the proceeds going to the One Fund.

Losers
Man, that's disturbing! Some Bostonians have their priorities messed up. Really, waiting in long lines for Red Sox "limited edition" tote bags? Seriously? Get a life!
It is an epic surge
..of true swashbuckling at a scale to make Errol Flynn keel over.
Credit cards were brandished menacingly to make cash registers groan from the transaction load.
And this drumbeat of little victories was followed by the multi-path triumphal procession to homes and neighborhoods where exultant cries of ''LOOK AT THIS THING I BOUGHT!!!" greeted friends and foes alike.
How do you know the people in
How do you know the people in line in Dedham are Boston residents? Consider getting a hobby and stop worrying about what other people are doing, especially when they aren't harming anyone!
NOT BOSTONIANS
These are people from Dedham and yes, they are losers.
The Sox fandom is a suburban / New Hampshire thing.... not a Boston thing.

Sometimes you really have no clue what you're talking about
OK, first, yeah, I used "Bostonians" in the more expansive, generic sense simply because saying "people in the greater Boston area" doesn't have quite the same effect. Shoot me - especially given my near annual complaints about the Globe's "Bostonians of the Year" who don't actually live in Boston.
But as for Legacy Place, ask any kid from West Roxbury or Roslindale where they go clothes shopping these days. And guess what? They bring their parents.
Is there no end?
Is there no end to what sheeple will stand in line for? I mean, a TOTE BAG??? And from LL Bean no less, the maker of all things ugly.
Wow! People Doing What They Want, With Their Money
Anyone who uses the term sheeple makes you a moron right out of the gate. Thanks for your pontificating. Make sure you keep polishing that stuff that comes out of your anus so we can be impressed.
I know, the horror.
That's funny you are familiar with the old adage I've heard attributed to Quebecois that you can't polish a turd.
It's okay to laugh at pet rock purchases.. right?
But I promise to uphold and support the right to buy said pet rock for all and sundry.
Ahhh the important things in
Ahhh the important things in life
Obervation
I state this only as an observation, but it appears that almost every person in the second photo is Asian. I don't know if there is any significance or if it just happened to happen that way.
Funny, that
My husband and I were at the Apple Store this morning and noticed the same thing in the line that stretched around the block to Newbury Street. Among the hundreds of people waiting, we counted five people who were not Asian. And there was a wide range of ages — not all students by any means. I have no theories.
It may be the resell arrangement
..described in the other thread by ChrisinEastie.
I've heard that Apple is prohibitively expensive in the EU and, presumably, Asia due to tariff penalties that Google avoided.
Android devices are driving the substantial overseas use of G Plus that makes my time with it so much fun. There may be real money to make in buying batches of I things here and then getting them home under whatever rubric.
