If you love classical music you find away. I got rush tickets as a teenager while working at McDonalds and took the train in. Where there's a will there's a way. Nothing has changed except your own perception of whether or not you fit in. I didn't care what I wore or how much money I had, I just knew I loved classical music and the BSO is an incredible orchestra.

does a lot to draw people from all walks of life, especially younger people. They have tickets under $40 for people under 40. They sell discounted rush seats the day of the performance. They do free chamber music concerts in lots of neighborhoods and they send Boston Public School kids to arts camp at Tanglewood every summer for a nominal fee. The BSO is dying for a more diverse audience. I hope they succeed.

Depending on the concert, you can find tickets for as low as $30-$35 a seat. The cheap seats aren't the best viewing, but the hall is so acoustically perfect that the sound is nearly as good as it is in the middle of the floor. If you would like a great summer day trip, lawn tickets at Tanglewood are under $20,
