Just license CVS and stick it behind their counter.

Its medicine all around.

yet CVS/Pharmacy carries all sorts of poisons in their pharmacy like Oxy Cotins, Amphetamines, and what not, and they dont bat an eye lash at those.

But I think CVS's stand point is

Drugs from Phrama Companies = Good
Drugs that are grown/partially illegal = bad

They actually SHOULD sell MediPot in my opinion. A drug is a drug is a drug. Yet CVS fails to see how harmful some of the drugs behind their pharmacy counter really are.

Its funny that you think CVS has something against selling weed. CVS is a DEA registrant. Weed is still a Schedule I controlled substance, meaning its sale and possession is banned in the US other than for narrow research purposes. If CVS sold, or even came into possession of, weed the DEA would yank its registration in a second and they would not be selling anything except greeting cards. Not to mention the fact that they would be indicted for drug trafficking, money laundering and innumerable other federal criminal laws intended to go after drug traffickers and terrorist financing. Most pharmacies already carry Marinol, which is a Schedule II drug based on weed. When the DEA eventually changes the schedule on this drug, you will be able to buy medical marijuana at any pharmacy. Commerce.

I know this. Duh.

But honest, if you believe its just because of their DEA status why they don't want to sell weed, think again. Its because CVS is in bed with the big pharma companies. I'd can't wait until 20 years in the future and its been totally legalized to see if CVS would sell it (as a prescription).. I doubt they would.

Keep in mind this one thought:

Weed = Threat to big pharma and their business model.

CVS sells generic drugs, which compete directly with big pharma. CVS Caremark runs a formulary that regularly refuses to pay for drugs from big pharma. But I'm sure you're right that they're in bed with the guys...

I take klonopin for panic attacks and all kinds of anxiety disorders. I have taken it every day for about 10 years. C-V-(bleeping)-S keeps such a tight control on it that I can't refill it until one day before the 30th day when I last filled it.

If I fill it on November 7th, I can't get another refill until December 6th. Going out of town? Tough.

Klonopin is a low level Schedule IV benzo. Yeah - CVS takes their controlled substances pretty seriously.

That is why I refuse to use CVS. They are on power trips, acting like the DEA will not let you fill your script on day 28 or 29. No that is just CVS. Go to any local pharmacy & they are far more willing to take your needs into account, rather than just showing they are all powerful.

I work for a Boston based pharmaceutical company that produces novel opiate based pain killers. Many proponents of medical marijuana tout its use as a pain killer - especially instead of using powerful opiates. We are a privately held, very much for--profit company. I can assure you medical marijuana has never once come up, and never will, in a meeting formal or informal, as a threat to our sales. Regardless of current or future legal status. We couldn't care less. Why do people that make that argument not seem to know about Marinol?

Spoken like a true big pharma corporate weenie.

Of course it hasn't come up nor is attractive to your company.

Just think about which one will have the most net gain in profit and you'll have your answer.

A short term pain reliever that has virtually no addictive properties, or an opiate based one which is high addictive? Yeah the opiate one is more attractive.. more customers for the longer term which translates into more sales.

Keep in mind folks, Heroin dealers always make more money than pot dealers. Why? because there's always needy customers.. always. Just saying...

I'm sorry, I don't buy the "We're here to help you" ideal from BigPharma. Because if a drug wasn't making any money or provided an instant cure, you wouldn't make it. This is why there has been no development in antibiotics or real cures for diseases in decades because there's no incentive to do so. Once you cure someone of an ailment, your gravy train cash machine will stop.

You need to look no further than Ebola to see this. Why has Ebola been around for a long time, and has been killing poor people in Africa for a very long time, yet so slow progress on a vaccine and/or cure? Yet it comes to the US, one person dies, and now everyone is all about finding a vaccine. No it's not because some white people go it, its because lots of money now has very quickly appeared to find a 'cure' for ebola. Everyone wants a piece of that now.

BigPharma is a business, folks. Businesses make money and see profit margins rise. Why make something that will stop some of that gravy train?

PS - I'm well aware of Marinol, and you do know Marinol is synthetic THC and does not the have the same properties as real cannabis. And trust me, from personal experience, Marinol is not the same.

Plus some reasons why folks seek MediPot, has little to do with the THC and more to do with CBD in it (which makes for a wonderful anti-seizure medication). See this link for more information

So much ignorance!

These Ebola treatments that are just approaching readiness now have been in development for years. People are only talking about deploying them now because some serious progress has been made and this outbreak is very bad, so unproven drugs are worth the risk.

Antibiotics are really really hard to develop. Actually, scratch that, it's easy to develop drugs that kill bacteria, it's hard to develop drugs that do so selectively. Lots of smart people are working very hard on this.

Smoking is bad for you. Doesn't matter if it's tobacco or not, the thing that causes lung cancer is a product of burning any organic material. If the drugs in cannabis have any medical benefit, eliminating the need to smoke dried plant material is of prime importance.

I can tell you from experience that executives from AstraZeneca to Pfizer to Novartis are really looking at medical marijuana as part of their future portfolios.

As a drug dealer, I would think you'd be up on the competition, yo!

Can Downtown Crossing get any worse?! The answer may be a bit clouded. By pot smoke!

I don't care that people want to smoke pot. Millions do. You can smell them a mile away. But is this the best location for a dispensary? I thought the city was trying to clean up the area? Maybe they can put in a methadone clinic while they are at it?

Strawmanic AT BEST.

No one needs a Toke more than you.

Chronic inflammation is robbing your brain of nutritive, oxygen enriched blood. As such, your cognitive and reasoning ability has been hampered to the point WHERE U JUST MAKE NO SENSE.

Keep it microcosmic...otherwise you might stay up....THINKING....

All the Caffeine dispensaries have already tarnished the area with that drug. I have friends that wake up like assholes unless they have their fix of caffeine. Such an addictive drug. They spend around $1,500 on the stuff every year. Thank God there are no liquor dispensaries in DTX. Oh wait Roche Brothers is going in soon. First CVS then STARBUCKS then ROCHE BROTHERS then MEDIPOT! This place is DOOMED!

I truly hope this helps the people who need it as medicine. At least it's not near a school, a park or in a mostly residential neighborhood. Still don't understand why if it's a medicine it's not dispensed where other medicines are dispensed.

and the federal government says cannabis is illegal, period, no ifs, ands, or buts. Only certain individual states have gone against federal law and either decriminalized small amounts, made medical cannabis legal with prescription, or outright legalized cannabis for adults, such as Colorado, Oregon, Washington State, D.C.
