Police: When passengers on the 1 bus told the man to stop beating off, he threatened to beat them

Transit Police report having to get a masturbating man off a 1 bus yesterday afternoon after he refused requests from other passengers to knock it off.

According to police, officers arrived at the stopped but as Tremont Street and Mass. Ave. around 4:10 p.m.:

Several passengers pointed out a male, later identified as John Repetto, 55, of Boston. Witnesses informed the officers Repetto originally entered the bus on Harrison Avenue with his pants unbuttoned, zipper down and with his genitals exposed. Once on board Repetto took a seat in close proximity to a woman and her young child and began to touch himself in an inappropriate manner. Other passengers present requested Repetto cease his vulgar actions and were verbally threatened by him in response.

Repetto is scheduled for arraignment on a charge of open and gross lewdness in Roxbury Municipal Court today, police say.

Innocent, etc.

Let him on the bus with his pants unzipped and stuff exposed? And he sat near a child? Not funny.

He should have never been allowed on the bus. And guys like that shouldn't be roaming the streets and transit system. I know, easier said than done.

He should have never been allowed on the bus.

We soon forget about the attack against a T inspector earlier this week at DTX....

Would you want to be that bus driver that tells some sketchy looking guy with his johnson hanging out that he can't get on? I wouldn't. Not saying its right or wrong, but clearly this guy isn't playing with a full deck and who knows what would have happened.

The driver did the RIGHT thing by letting him on and then calling transit police for help. This avoided possible nasty confrontation. Yeah I feel sorry for that woman and her child but not sure if seeing a bus driver getting stabbed by some weirdo because he wouldn't let him on be any better or worse sight.

Driver did tell him to get off, he just misunderstood

Take the rest of the afternoon off, Cybah.

I shouldn't have had to put a silly /sarcasm for that one.

whatever. Sorry for actually paying attention to what I am doing at work and not determining if something is sarcasm or not on Universal Hub.

I am seriously re-assessing why I continue to come here when all I do is get jabbed at. Not worth the aggravation anymore.

:-(

No time to determine sarcasm, yet time to go back, re-read adam's post, and click the link to re-read that....

EDIT: No link... sorry I'm busy at work.

I'm done here.

Adam, please delete my account. I won't be back.

I'll add this to a list of all the other social media accounts I've deleted in the past few weeks.. this and twitter are the last ones.

Time to go join the real world... enough with this online nonsense.

This is Boston; you should be worried when people start being nice! Busting eachother's chops is how we show love!

I'm sure your boss will be relieved to hear that you're only looking and posting at UHub, not actually reading it.

You make so many worthwhile contributions to Universal Hub, it'd be a shame if you weren't here. What you feel as jabs are just love pecks of adoration!

... your "bus driver" post was appreciated by many people.

Ultimately though, your "where" post was even more entertaining and engaging. Now, I'm wonderin' if you weren't the one playin' with us! I guess there's no way to tell. In either case, I still think it was adorable and Universal Hub is richer because of it.

Ahaha, that was a goodie!

It sounds like excellent coordination with the Transit Police; it's only three blocks from Harrison to Tremont. Rather than turn this individual back on the street, the driver made sure he was taken off the street.

but the driver sexually harassed the passengers on the bus while doing so, including a child.

In any other situation, that would be considered child sex abuse.

That's one hell of a stretch of the definition of "sexually harassed". By proxy, perhaps? You're reaching, and I don't want to speculate about what you're reaching for.

up
Voting closed 0

Um, I'm pretty sure that masturbating in front of a captive audience is a pretty cut-and-dried example of sexual harrassment.

up

But it wasn't the driver who did that.

What's happening here? Is this story so titillating that people can't focus on the actual words in the comments, or what?

up
Voting closed 0

SORRY I'M WORKING TOO HARD TO READ THE ENTIRE COMMENT.

No, seriously, if you take the initial comment as "The driver allowed the passengers to be harassed", that's not an unreasonable point.

up

... by calling the police, the driver made it stop it as quickly and safely as possible for everyone involved.

It's a shame that people like him are walking around at all. I often wonder if it's just people pretending to be mentally ill so they don't have to take responsibility for their actions or if there are so many mentally people.

I have friends who are mentally ill and they would never even think of doing anything inappropriate, they have jobs and healthy relationships with other people.

I saw the same thing at the Irish Memorial at School/Washington about a year ago. Some homeless guy having at it in the middle of the day with tourists milling about.

With all the other weirdos hanging out, people just let him do his business.

Best entertainment value in town. I used to take it daily. One day there was bum sprawled over three seats, nodded off in a pharmaceutical haze. Two gorgeous asian women who looked and acted like they had been here about three hours got on at MIT. Wearing very short skirts. Talking, laughing, and completely oblivious.

Unaccustomed to the rolling performance theater that is the Number 1, they took seats on both sides of the bum. The seats were open because the other riders knew better.

The guy woke up, looked to his left, and saw the legs and followed them visually from ankle to hemline. Then right, same thing. I think he actually started to shake, trying to decide what/where next. Died and gone to heaven, which direction to dive first?

At this point someone stepped in and moved them out of the way, before he could decide who and what to tackle. What a scene.

Yes you summed it up pretty good. I used to ride the 1 a lot to my job in Cambridge.

total

on that bus.

I did dub that bus the "Heroin Express" as it attracts so many junkies. You know, the 1 does connect Harvard University to that seedy area in Newmarket (and Dudley)

but..

Two gorgeous asian women who looked and acted like they had been here about three hours got on at MIT.

Yeah asian folks are pretty obvious when they are new Boston and/or the US. They all have this look on their faces, usually luggage in tow. They stand in the middle of path ways looking at their phones, talking to each other, pretty much oblivious to everything around them.

The reason for all the junkies on the #1 is the Methadone clinic at city hospital, at the southern end of the route.

This doesn't sound much different from when I lived in Kenmore years ago. This bus has had this odd mix of students, tourists, commuters, lowlifes, and people just trying to get a free ride or keep warm for a very long time.
