Woman found murdered in South End apartment

Update: Police investigating Shantel Gillespie's death as a murder.

Police conducting a well being check in a fifth-floor apartment at the Harris, 390 Harrison Ave. in the South End, around 7 p.m. on Thursday found a body.

Police did not specify a cause of death, but say the BPD homicide unit is investigating it.

Detectives ask anybody with information to call them at 617-343-4470 or to contact the anonymous tip line by calling 800-494-TIPS or by texting TIP to CRIME (27463).

The discovery came a day after police entered an apartment at the Continuum, 219 Western Ave. in Allston and found the man who had started a 12-hour standoff that led to the building's evacuation was dead.
