Gunfire in Chinatown around corner from where four were shot in August
By adamg on Mon, 01/12/2015 - 9:11am
Melissa Palardy reports she heard multiple shots around 3:38 a.m. in the area of Essex Street. Another resident reports via e-mail hearing "a flurry of bullets, maybe 15 or so, from what sounds to be small handgun(s?) in three bursts."
Stanley Staco reports the gunfire was outside 81 Essex St. and that two cars were seen fleeing the scene in the direction of I-93.
In August, four people were shot outside the Moon Villa, around the corner on Edinboro Street. A man was charged with the shootings.

that area
is just no good
Chau Chow has always been a dump
That attracts a lot a riff raff in the early morning hours, however they typically have a police detail.
Is this area safe?
When I look on a map I notice that these shots were very close to the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and Bay Village.
The shots were only 0.6 miles from the corner of Beacon and Charles, 0.9 miles from the corner of Marlborough and Clarendon.
How do these people live in these areas with such free gun fire (and out of control sirens)? If I lived only 0.6 miles from where gunfire was bursting out I would make sure that all the people in this area were denigrated for being not as smart as everyone else who live in nicer areas of the city, like parts of Dorchester, where people live almost a mile or more from free fire gun areas, yet somehow get grouped in with the more dangerous parts of the city.
I mean, what sane person would pay $3,000 for a 1 bedroom apartment when they might get shot while standing at the window of their unit at 120 Kingston Street? Those poor people.
Is this a real comment?
Is this a real comment? Seriously, what are you talking about?
I assure you, these acts of violence are rarely committed by residents of Chinatown.
In almost all the dangerous
In almost all the dangerous crime, especially on this street, none of these people are residents nor even Chinese.
They mainly show up at night and hang out because the restaurants are open late till well past 3am serve alcohol and are nearby the clubs which brings drug dealers which brings the crime. Mainly they don't even live in the area and just cause trouble
Also the street is decently well lit, however cops don't seem to patrol the area that much especially at that hour.
It first
I thought it was real.
Then, I read it again. It is real, and by that I mean really, really funny satire. I mean, were this shooting in Dorchester, people would conclude that the entire neighborhood was unsafe. Why not conclude the same thing about the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and Chinatown.
Well done, Costello. I tip my hat.
And I assure you
Mr. Costello was being what's called 'sarcastic'? Look it up on urban dictionary or something.
its at night after the clubs,
its at night after the clubs, lot of drunk people and testosterone flowing
er...
Having a Ward Sutton/Kelly moment of sarcasm-inversion....not sure where you're going...
But, going with the flow, someone just paid over $1.3 million to live on Marion Street in Eastie, proximal to some shenanigans that you wouldn't have to deal with if you blew that scratch in Newton. (But you'd be sooo far from 'Tarps...)
Bravo!
Bravo, sir!
