I was out all morning on X-C skis and some kid from BU took photos of me for their paper but I was the only one out there. Guess other came out later.

I got yelled at for skiing up an empty Cambridge Street.
Going to go out biking now.
Watch out for snow plows
By Markk02474

Recreational pedestrians, skiers, snowshoers, and bicyclists on what should be empty roads fare poorly against snow plows in collisions.
If you really can't let people do their job, at least wear conspicuous clothing and be aware of your surroundings (ie don't wear earbuds, headphones, or hoods). Better yet, do your thing off the roadways.
My God, you're predictable.

All hail the mighty automobile and those heroes who are out there getting the snow out of its way.
"A food delivery bicycle is not an emergency vehicle"

Said by NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio was asked if the ban on non-emergency vehicles applied to other vehicles such as food delivery bicycles. So, yeah, no bikes on the streets either!

de Blasio is also the hated

de Blasio is also the hated mayor that's going to drive NYC back to the 70s, coincidence?
I'm pretty sure

that the street is the only flat surface on which to walk, ski, cycle or drive.

When I used to commute to the medical area, in 2003 when we got that all-time record storm, I continued biking afterwards.
Why? Because it was difficult, time consuming, and even dangerous to "walk" to the bus stop. I had to either climb over giant piles of snow at every chair ramp, where plow jockies love to shove all the snow, brave ice and uncleared walkways on foot or walk in the street.
Or just get on my bike, with the winter tires it had at the time, and make my way on fully plowed streets, enjoying the plowing job my tax dollars paid for.
Don't want people walking in the road? Urge your cities and towns to enforce shoveling laws, enforce accessibility laws, properly train plow operators, and even set up plowing of sidewalks on roadways with bus routes and major roads around schools.
it'll be a fine day...

when the preferential treatment for vehicles will be matched by an equal preference for clearing public sidewalks

AKA Markkkkk right on time with a stupid and pointless snark about anyone who dares to use the street in something other than a car. Because, of course, anyone not in a car is a natural-born idiot who can't possibly see a plow coming.
I hope you lose your license, Markkkkk. It'd teach you a few things.
Hear about the ban?????
By Markk02474

The whole point of the ban is to keep streets clear so plows, and people needing to get someplace can. That would include hospital workers. Not people wanting to ski for the novelty of it. It doesn't matter what mode you use going down the street when you shouldn't be on the street!
If people need some exercise, rather than being stupid and inconsiderate, shovel out or otherwise help elderly and disabled neighbors.
Plows tooted and waved at me

Plows tooted and waved at me yesterday so they didn't mind. I moved over when needed and kept alert.

If you don't want non-motorized vehicles in the road, lobby for full plowing of all bike lanes, sidewalks, and paths.
Otherwise, don't complain when people use them to get around, and take advantage of whatever surfaces their tax dollars pay to clear.
