Oetzi the Ice Car uncovered in the South End

A roving UHub photographer came across a scientist unearthing dramatic evidence today that cars once roamed across what is now Yarmouth Street in the South End.
Scientists next plan to carefully study the meaning of strange protuberances found poking through the ice further down Yarmouth Street:

Hey look it's a BMW covered
Hey look it's a BMW covered in a mound of snow and ice, and all the rock salt from the salt trucks plowing the street, salt will start gradually eat through that metal, destroying the cars value. Always keep your highly priced bmw in a garage during snowy season if you want to get top dollar when it's time to trade it in. There are alot of older good running SUV's on CList for under $1,000 in New England but in order for these suvs to pass inspection these suvs must replace all the rusted metal.

Because I was told the South End's space saver situation was far better than the rest of the city. And yet here I see not a chair, but a two ton automobile and a month's worth of snow saving a spot.
Now that I've got the snark out of the way, I have to say that if you can leave your car buried for a month, you probably do not need a car. Essentially this just creates a shortage of free parking (which is a finite resource) because you don't want to pay for a garage. One fewer spot means that a pool of other Southenders that can't find a spot on a particular day need to pay for parking each night. So instead of paying $300-$400 a month for yourself, you're passing that cost (and about $500 more given the cost of overnight parking) to your other neighbors.
If the owner was a DWB doctor fighting ebola in Africa for the past month+, I apologize and this is well-deserved, but please, next time leave your keys with a friend.

Dude, you're kind of all over the place on this topic. One thing is clear though, you are not lord of the manor and you do not havevthe authority to dictate who may or may not own a car. Get over yourself!

Yet you're apparently the lord of the straw man that can attack arguments I never put forth. Nowhere did I say who can and cannot get a car, just that it's probably not needed if it can be buried for a month.

Maybe they went without extra drives / trips that they might have taken?
Maybe they chose to be flexible and do things differently than their normal until they felt comfortable digging out their car (or until they were convinced they ought to dig it out).

Maybe they were on a business trip for 2 weeks, vacation for the next week, then are blessed to have the flexibility to work from home for a few days (since, heck, my car is buried), but now there are meetings coming up and we need to be in the office (in Bedford, not exactly a hotbed of mass transit). So now it's time to break out the shovels...
